Cinema of Euphoria

Euphoria is one of those many old words we have inherited from the ancient Greeks. However, that was so long ago that we gave ourselves the liberty to ask the question: What does it even mean? And since we are a filmclub the real question is of course: What does it mean to feel it in the cinema? Will the program that we have selected make you happy, excited about life? Can films even do that at all anymore in this over-saturated era we live in, an era that diminishes images through proliferating images? In this summer semester, carried by spring, we will take you on a journey that examines the concept of euphoria in its diverse possibilities of representation and evocation. From Jackie Chan to Werner Herzog, from Singin' in the Rain to Leos Carax!
