The Blaue Salon is the university's own cinema at the HfG Karlsruhe. The hall was established in 2009 on the initiative of Thomas Heise, then professor of film at the HfG. Since 2017, the hall has been gradually upgraded on its own within the Unikino project. A motorized curtain, as well as a Kasch system were installed, the screen was changed to a room-filling CS format and the projection and audio technology was improved. It was important to install the analog cinema projectors in order to be able to show archive prints in 35mm and 16mm format.
