Two weeks ago, we celebrated the opening of the new season. The archive lives on! For an entire semester, we will be bringing treasures from our 35mm collection to the big screen. But before the curtain rose for the first time, there were a few surprises. Here is a brief look back at what happened before the first screening.

A new semester is beginning – and with it, a brand-new cinema program at the Blauer Salon! After long meetings, countless film screenings, license research, writing, design discussions, and proofreading, our beautiful program booklet is finally at the printer.

Last Saturday, our 35mm workshop took place in the Blue Salon – a colorful mix of technology, mishaps, and lots of fun! The participants, who had no previous experience, learned everything important about analog film projection: from the start band to film orientation to sound cleaning – and why it shouldn't get on the screen...

In July and August 2025, we are once again inviting you to a special workshop at the Kino im Blauen Salon: Anyone who has always wanted to know how analog film projection works will have the opportunity to experience the classic craft of cinema for themselves on two dates.

Exactly 3 weeks ago our open air cinema came to an end. Summer-loving cineastes will look at their watches for a moment, open-air cinema? Looking back? It's only June, well, you probably missed the very first open-air cinema of the season - time for a little review:

What would the start of the semester at the Blauer Salon be without a big flick through the new program? Exactly: almost like going to the movies without seeing a movie. Luckily, our design team is once again making sure that it not only crackles on the screen, but also on paper. And because everything is always a little different for us, the magazine is also reinvented every time.

Next week it's that time again: our OPEN AIR CINEMA in front of the HfG is entering its sixth round! We're looking forward to fresh air, stars, lots of great movies, popcorn, and above all, you!

After long program meetings, the new film program for the summer semester is ready for the beginning of spring! Once again, we have collected, discussed and evaluated dozens of film suggestions...

Well, we're off then. The program from April is in the bag, but it's still a while until then. The cinema is closed, we'll be traveling in other spheres until then.
