This Friday, February 14, we cordially invite you to spend an extraordinary evening together in the Blue Salon of the HfG Karlsruhe. Our Open Stage starts at 8 pm and, as always, anyone who plays an instrument is welcome to take the stage! Whether it's a jazzy classic, a spontaneous improv or a cool funk beat - the evening is yours! 🎷🎶

Next Saturday, we will be showing SHOAH (1985) by Claude Lanzmann. The almost 10-hour film will be shown in cooperation with the Kinemathek Karlsruhe on two consecutive days and in two different cinemas. The screenings are part of the nationwide cinema initiative January 27 - 80 Years of the Liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, which was initiated by the Haus des Dokumentarfilms in Stuttgart.

We are delighted to welcome the director of the Academic Film Center in Belgrade (AFC) Milan Milosavljević in January. In a short film program, 10 films from the history of the center's renowned film archive will be presented. Don't miss the unique chance to see these treasures, one of the rare cases where the old saying ONLY IN THE CINEMA is actually true.

We are delighted to be part of the Federal Congress of German Communal Cinemas this coming weekend. The congress is hosted by our friends at the Kinemathek Karlsruhe and on Saturday we are offering a night full of experimental short films from almost 100 years of cinema history - come along to the NACHTWACHE!

We are delighted to bring you some very special news: Kino im Blauen Salon has been awarded the Kinematheksverbund 2024 cinema prize in the “Cinema that looks back” category! 🎉

It's hard to believe that after several dozen years, it's actually goodbye, Ludger! Ludger Pfanz, a member of staff at the HfG since the 5th year after its foundation, is looking forward to retirement and as a farewell we will watch the short film of his filmmaking career together again, which in a way went down in history as the initial HfG project, in the sense that many members of the HfG, from students to the janitor to the secretariat, were involved in the production.

The time has finally come: after a long period of thinking back and forth, poring over Excel spreadsheets and reviewing trailers, our programme team has now agreed on a great new programme for the cinema winter 24/25 in the Blauer Salon!

Almost exactly a month ago, another great open-air cinema came to an end for us. Before we start the summer break, we would like to share the best moments and stories from this year's edition with you in this short review!
