

The city is in a state of emergency; the HFG’s only air-conditioned refuge is our little movie theater, and the rest of Karlsruhe’s residents are packed like frozen sardines in the hallways of the ZKM. The German Mediterranean still has to get used to a constant 40 degrees in the shade. What better time to venture a refreshingly wintry look back?

With the final film of this semester, we realize: even “All Endings Are Beautiful,” because we’re already incredibly excited for the well-deserved summer break—and we already feel a bit like Ferdinand on the beach in Godard’s Pierrot le Fou.

It was a real treat! Exactly three weeks ago, our 2026 Open-Air Cinema came to a close, bringing to an end two wonderful weekends full of magical movie moments!

The projectors have been retrieved from the attic and set up, the popcorn machine preheated, the screen rolled out, and we’ve done a big shopping run at Metro using Stadtmobil. That can only mean one thing: it’s time for open-air cinema!
