Open Air Kino | Kino im Blauen Salon

Since 2019, the team from the Kino im Blauen Salon has been hosting an open-air cinema. For a whole week, the lawn in front of the HfG features great films with a fun pre-show program, drinks, entertaining hosts, movie trivia and more. The lawn is ready for your picnic blankets, lounge chairs, and sofas—feel free to get creative. In case of rain, we’ll have to react on the spot—just check the website for the latest updates.

WHERE IS THE OPEN AIR CINEMA?

As the name suggests, the OPEN AIR CINEMA IN FRONT OF THE HFG is located in front of the HFG—more specifically, on the lawn between the HFG/ZKM and the Office of the Attorney General.

Public transportation: From the main train station, take tram line 2 (toward Knielingen Nord über (via) ZKM) to the “ZKM” stop, or take bus line 55 (toward Kühler Krug) to the “Lorenzstraße/ZKM” stop.

By car: From the A5 highway, take the Karlsruhe Mitte exit, then take the Südtangente bypass to exit 4 (ZKM). Follow Brauerstraße toward downtown; at the second traffic light, turn left onto Südendstraße; the first street on the right is Lorenzstraße.

Parking: There are approximately 700 parking spaces available in the paid parking garage. The “ZKM” parking garage can be accessed via Südendstraße 44. Two charging stations are available for electric cars—while one station is reserved for “Stadtmobil” vehicles, the other station can be used by all garage patrons.

WHERE DO I GET TICKETS?

Admission to the open-air cinema in front of the HfG is free! There are no tickets in the traditional sense, but we’d appreciate a donation to support the association’s work and the artists who help put together the supporting program. The only thing you need to reserve is your seat - or spot to lie down - and here, it’s first come, first served! So be there on time and enjoy our supporting program. There are plenty of seats and plenty of open grassy areas, so feel free to bring your own blankets, camping chairs, etc.!

There’s always plenty going on in the field in front of the HfG, long before the movie starts. Starting at 8 p.m., our bar and food team goes all out. We’ve got drinks, snacks, fresh food off the grill (all available in vegan options), popcorn, nachos, and much more! Plus, our awesome DJ team gets you in the mood for the film every day, a sort of auditory warm-up starting at 8 p.m.!
