In Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans, Terence, a gambler, cocaine addict, heavily in debt and plagued by chronic pain, is tasked with solving the murder of a family of African-American immigrants. He gets the only witness, messenger boy Daryl, to testify against the mastermind of the crime, drug dealer Big Fate - and is now responsible for the witness's safety. Terence is drawn deeper and deeper into a maelstrom of drugs and corruption. The complicated investigations, drug procurement and settling old betting debts become an increasingly grotesque tightrope walk for him.
