Henry, who is currently stuck in vacation mode, is told by his girlfriend's family at a family dinner that he is the new father of a strange baby. He is to marry the mother of his child as soon as possible and take care of the child with her. Things are anything but smooth between the mother and father, who have moved into Henry's apartment together with their child. The young woman, tormented by the daily sight of the freak of nature and his nerve-wracking whining, gives up early on and leaves Henry. Only reluctantly does he try to come to terms with his child in a post-apocalyptic city where industry has replaced almost everything else, and he becomes completely absorbed by him. David Lynch's surrealistic debut film, which took more than five years to hatch on a marginal budget, is still a terrifying and nightmarish cult hit today!
