A handful of travelers flee to the remote home of a highly nervous small family, where they soon find themselves under massive siege... George A. Romero shot his directorial debut in his free time on a minimal budget. He not only directed, and wrote the screenplay, but also served as cinematographer and editor. With simple means, he managed to revolutionize common film conventions and thus created a new type of horror film. Ben, played by Duane Jones, was also one of the first black heroes in film history. After its premiere, Night of the Living Dead was initially dismissed by critics as banal, but over the years it has established itself as a cult film. It is considered a genre-defining milestone in horror cinema, whose influence can still be felt today. Romero laid the foundation for his long career as master of zombie films.
