It was a real treat! Exactly three weeks ago, our 2026 Open-Air Cinema came to a close, bringing to an end two wonderful weekends full of magical movie moments!
For the seventh consecutive year, the lawn in front of the HfG was transformed into a stage of emotions, this time with the theme of directorial debuts. Debut films by directors from a wide variety of countries made their way onto our inflatable screen, confirming this year’s program motto: “Every beginning is beautiful”!
Despite the relentless heat of the summer days, things sometimes even got really cozy and the vegan currywurst and Aperol Spritz certainly played their part in that. The occasional summer thunderstorm also provided some refreshment, though thanks to quickly erected pavilions, none of them put a damper on any of the evenings. To kick off each film, in keeping with the tradition of recent years, we once again got to enjoy fantastic DJs who skillfully curated their music to complement the debut film being shown. A big thank you to them!
We look back on eight evenings filled with many familiar and new faces, packed benches and chairs, resounding laughter, and faces moved to tears. Even though the debut films couldn’t have been more different, one thing united them all: the wonderful audience, which turned every evening into a unique event! We thank you for your trust, for your enthusiasm for our passion project, and above all for making it possible to host this event here. We’re already looking forward to the next movie summer and hope to welcome each and every one of you back.
Thanks to Quirin Thalhammer for the great photos!
