
After a serious crisis, the painter Vincent van Gogh comes to the provincial town of Auvers-sur-Oise. At the urging of his brother Theo, he sought treatment there from the doctor Dr. Gachet. Van Gogh became unexpectedly productive in the idyll, but he did not find a home here either. Neither Gachet nor his brother Theo understand his bold brushstrokes.
