An aging horror movie star is confronted with real-life horror when a sniper wreaks havoc at a drive-in theater during the premiere of his latest film. Peter Bogdanovich’s debut film: a tribute to Boris Karloff, the actor who played Frankenstein, and a masterful recreation of the classic Hollywood style. However, the attempt to comment on the present through cinematic myths falls flat.
