Shocking, but with incomparable aesthetics, this film tells of an incident that is said to have happened in Japan in 1936: Kichizo, a brothel owner, falls in love with the geisha Sada Abe. Soon he is addicted to her body and soul, their ecstatic love games take bizarre forms. More and more they lose touch with reality. On the hunt for the ultimate climax, Kichizo finally asks his geisha to strangle him during the act of love.
