A documentary film about war and escape, destruction and reconstruction. Taste of Cement concentrates on the titular building material and the dreams of Syrian workers working on a construction site in their exile in Lebanon. Ziad Kalthoum manages to weave a portrait of his people with stunning formal austerity and poetry.
